Hidden features for advanced users
Although I am generally enthusiastic about WeChat, I find the app a little difficult to use, especially at the beginning, because there are no proper operating instructions. I am referring to those applications that I only discovered existed over time. The tips refer to the current version WeChat 6.7.
Chat on your computer:
If you don’t feel like typing your messages on your phone, you can open . A QR code will then appear on your computer. In WeChat, go to “Discover”, then select “scan” and point the camera at the code.
Use WeChat as DropBox: If you are looking for an easy option taiwan phone number database to move data between your phone and computer (because DropBox is blocked in China), you can use WeChat. Start the web chat as described above. A file folder will also appear on the screen between the contacts. On my phone it is titled “File Transfer”, on the computer it has the Chinese equivalent. Now you can simply copy the files from your phone into this folder and within a few seconds they will appear on your computer.
Moments without pictures:
I already mentioned the WeChat timeline above. Go to Discover > Moments and briefly press the camera if you want to share a photo of yourself. However, if you just want to post a status update in the form of a text, you have to hold down the camera button for a long time. Then a simple text input field appears.
Status updates by group:
After a while, if you have a large list of friends and regularly share pictures on your wall, you may not want everyone to see every post. In these cases, you mark your acquaintances with tags. To do this, go to their Phone Number Lists profile, click the three dots at the top and define tags (groups) that are suitable for you under “Set comments and tags”. When you share a post, you can decide under “Share with” whether everyone should see your post or only certain groups.
Only show the latest status updates: If you don’t want your friends to be able to see your old posts after a while, go to Me > Settings > Privacy. There, under “Visible to others”, you can choose whether your posts should be shown always, for 6 months or for 3 days.
Delete unnecessary data:
If you use WeChat for a long time, a lot of data accumulates, much of which you no longer need. To delete it, go to > Me > Settings > General > Manage storage. Here you can delete pictures, videos and other sent files sorted by contact. Note: The pictures you send are always a copy that you can easily delete.
Delete your WeChat account permanently:
If you simply delete the app from your phone, your account b2c email list and all of its data will remain on Tencent’s servers. There is no ready-made way to delete the account with just a few clicks. For complete deletion, you have to write an email to support@wechat.com. You can find letter templates on the Internet. Personally, I would save myself the trouble, though, as there is ultimately no way to check whether everything has really been removed.
