Earthquake in Afghanistan

After two 6.3 magnitude quakes struck western Afghanistan within five days, thousands of people are in urgent need of life-saving assistance. More than 1,000 people have died in the devastating quakes – more than 90 percent of them women and children. In Zinda Jan district alone, more than 11,500 people have had their homes razed to the ground.

With winter approaching, when temperatures can drop well below freezing,  is deeply concerned for children and their wellbeing.

“Even before the earthquake.

Children and their families were suffering the impacts of conflict and insecurity, migration, drought, displacement and poverty,” said Rushnan Murtaza, ‘s acting head in Afghanistan. “These pressures have afghanistan phone number database now converged to create an unprecedented humanitarian emergency for children. and our partners have been on the ground in the affected areas since day one, providing life-saving assistance to children.  launched an initial appeal for US$20 million on October 11. This includes:

First aid, emergency and trauma care for newborns, children, adolescents and women in both urban health facilities and by mobile health teams;

Repair of water and sanitation facilities in schools and health facilities;

Diagnosis and treatment of children affected by malnutrition.

Family hygiene kits, including soap and other personal hygiene products, to prevent disease outbreaks;

Cash assistance to 1,400 households Afghanistan Phone Number List in Zinda Jan, the most affected district in Herat province;
Psychosocial support for traumatized children and their parents in child-friendly locations;

Provisional learning spaces to ensure that classes can continue.

With the funds from this appeal,  plans to reach more b2c email list than 200,000 people, including 96,000 children, in the most affected areas of Herat province with life-saving humanitarian aid within the next three months.
